About the Role

Our Family Relationship Centre is seeking a tertiary qualified and experienced Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner. In this role you will:

  • Provide support to families by facilitating negotiations, offering early intervention and prevention, community education and support services
  • Undertake client intake, risk and needs assessment
  • Undertake family dispute resolution and case management with couples, families and individuals
  • Conduct assessments of clients and make appropriate referrals

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Law, or Family Dispute Resolution / Mediation.
  • Experience in family dispute resolution and child-focused practices
  • Be an accredited FDRP or the ability to obtain registration
  • Current drivers licence
  • Ability to obtain a Yellow and Blue Card

Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner

Centacare Family & Relationship Services is seeking to appoint a part time Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner at the Family Relationship Centre Chermside. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced practitioner who will assist in the provision of high quality, professional and accountable, family dispute resolution services. The role will offer opportunities to support and work with diverse families and complex needs.

For a role of this nature, highly effective communication and interpersonal skills and a high degree of professionalism and integrity in working with clients, colleagues, and community stakeholders is required. There will be opportunities to participate in consultative and collaborative strategies with other practitioners. Some after-hours work is required to provide equitable services for clients.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Sciences, from a recognised tertiary institution.  Eligibility for membership of APS, AASW, or similar recognised professional association.
  • Qualifications in family dispute resolution (FDR), and registration as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner along with demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in FDR including mediating with families from diverse cultural backgrounds.

The position available is a part time, 30 hours per week position. The remuneration package is Social Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award. Level 5, $36.3732 per hour or $56,742.19 pro rata annually, with an above award payment (pro rata based on hours worked) for accredited FDRPs. Proof of current registration is required on commencement of employment.

We are currently looking for an experienced Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner to join our Family Relationship Centre based in Penrith Centre. The Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners provide a range of interventions to families that are experiencing conflict and are unable to reach agreement regarding arrangements in relation to children.

This position requires the practitioner to be registered on the Australian Government Attorney General's Department Register of Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners under the Family Law Act 1975 (see Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners Regulations 2008).

About the role

Some of the responsibilities of the successful applicant will include:

  • Maintaining Family Dispute Resolution service to clients from referral to closure as appropriate, including all clinical and administrative tasks of cases.
  • Providing a range of interventions to families who are experiencing conflict post-separation and are unable to reach agreement regarding parenting arrangements for their children.
  • Provide information to clients and potential clients about other options upon separation, including information about counselling and legal processes. Refer clients to other services (internal and external) as required.

About the successful candidate

This is a full time position working 5 days per week based in Penrith Centre. The successful candidate will have:

  • Registered on the Australian Government Attorney General's Department Register of Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners under the Family Law Act 1975;
  • A tertiary background in law, social sciences, social work or mediation/dispute resolution
  • Demonstrated high level of skills in family dispute resolution including assessments and mediation intervention;
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a child focused approach;
  • Knowledge of issues facing separating families;
  • High level written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to work as an effective team member;
  • Proficiency at using data management systems, Microsoft Office packages, and video conferencing.

Previous experience in property mediation and workplace mediation is desirable.

About the Role

Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) within the Post Separation Services program is a part-time (0.6 FTE, 22.5 hours a week), ongoing position based in Wagga Wagga, NSW.

Reporting to the Clinical Coordinator, the FDRP role is expected to provide information and deliver education and mediation services to couples and families who are separating or who are separated.

To be successful in this role, you are required to possess:

Tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, law or social sciences.
Has completed or willingness to complete, either:
The full Vocational Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution (or higher education provider equivalent); or
An appropriate qualification or accreditation under the National Mediation Accreditation Scheme and competency in the six compulsory units from the Vocational Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution (or higher education provider equivalent).
Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.

About the role

You will spend 22.5 hours per week in the Parent Coordinator role and 15 hours per week in the Family Dispute Resolution role until 4 January 2019, with the possibility of 30 hours per week ongoing after 4 January 2019.

As the Parent Coordinator and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner you will provide counselling, family dispute resolution and support services to couples going through separation, assisting them to come to terms with separation and co-parenting. You will assist in the facilitation of educational/therapeutic groups for parents and deliver education and training programs on issues relating to separation where required.

As the Parent Coordinator you will provide intake and assessments and short term counselling for clients experiencing family separation. You will coordinate pathways for clients through the Family Separation programs to ensure identified goals are achieved.

As the Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner you will provide child inclusive family dispute resolution and mediation as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Remuneration

  • $71,873 – $81,527 per year + 9.5% superannuation
  • In addition to your remuneration, you will enjoy generous tax-free salary packaging benefits where you can package up to $15,900 per annum and not pay tax on that amount
