Accredited Mediator Membership is for people eligible for national accreditation as a mediator under AMDRAS.
- If you are ALSO a FDR Practitioner or Family Group Conference Facilitator you can include practitioner membership for those categories at no extra cost
- Accredited Mediator Membership is for 2 years to match your National Accreditation
Practitioner Membership is for people who are:
- a registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, or applying for registration
- a certified Family Group Conference Facilitator
- a NMAS / AMDRAS mediator who is accredited through another Recognised Accreditation Provider (RAP) but would still like practitioner membership with Mediation Institute
- Practitioner Membership is for 1 year.
Professional Development membership is for people who want to be a member of Mediation Institute for professional development purposes but who are not eligible or don’t want to apply for Practitioner Membership.
Other organisations may describe it as associate or student membership.

Transfer to Mediation Institute
If you would like to transfer to Mediation Institute as your Accrediting Body under AMDRAS you can do this at any time or wait for your AMDRAS renewal.
Reinstate Lapsed Accreditation & Membership
If you were formerly an NMAS or AMDRAS mediator but your accreditation has lapsed you can use this form to start the re-instatement process.
Leave of Absence Request Form
If you need to suspend your AMDRAS Accreditation for a period of time you can use this Leave of Absence Request form to apply for a Leave of Absence (up to 12 months) or a Non-Practicing Certificate (for 2 years)
This process preserves your accreditation history and makes re-instatement easier to manage with all necessary information captured for future reference.
What are the AMDRAS Renewal Requirements?

- Continuing Professional Development is 25 hours for all levels of Membership
- Practice Hours are 20 hours for Accredited Mediators and 40 hours for Advanced, Leading and Specialist categories.
What if I don't have my Practice Hours for AMDRAS renewal?
Complete the Renewal Application form indicating what your practice hours are and we’ll contact you to discuss your options.
Worst case scenario is you will need to meet the CPD requirements and be re-assessed for accreditation which can be done as part of the AMDRAS Certificate of Assessment Support Package
What are the practice hour requirements for Practitioner Membership renewal?
There are no set practice hour requirements for Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners or Family Group Conference Facilitators.
- As long as you have met your registration requirements as a FDRP you can retain Practitioner Membership.
- As long as you are a certified Family Group Conference Facilitator with professional indemnity insurance you can retain Practitioner Membership.
