Recognised Accreditation Provider RAP
The team at Mediation Institute have always been strong advocates for the professional recognition of mediators as a profession in our own right in Australia.
Our director, Joanne Law, has served on the Mediator Standards Board (MSB) now known as the AMDRAS Board, since 2023.
The transition to the Australian Mediator and Dispute Resolution Accreditation Standards (AMDRAS) has now completed effective 1.7.2025 for the majority of people other than those who are part way through their training and accreditation under NMAS.
Mediation Institute will continue to support our members as a Recognised Accreditation Provider (RAP).
We provide:
- frequent, free for members, professional development webinars.
- approved complaint handling for AMDRAS Mediators, FDR Practitioners and FGC facilitators including group supervision and practice development support.

Member Benefits at a glance
Mediation Institute provides independent complaint handling for our dispute resolution professional members. Our complaint handling services are approved for:
- Accredited Mediators AMDRAS
- Registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners
- Certified Family Group Conference Facilitators
Responding to initial enquiries, reviewing complaint submissions, discussing the complaint with members and reports on the conclusion of these preliminary investigations are all included in the membership fee.

We have established a partnering relationship with a major insurance provider AON for Professional Indemnity Insurance.
We are building a panel of mentors available to support members who are newly accredited.
Some of the options are:
- buy me a coffee meet and greet mentoring
- paid supervision
- co-mediation – generally you’ll need to find the client and we can match you with a mentor
- panel of mentors to facilitate self-referral under construction

NMAS Mediator Accreditation and Mediation Institute Membership
$480 for two years!
NOTE: NMAS Training and Assessment Certificates can continue to provided during the extended transition period for people currently undertaking NMAS training and assessment.
National Accreditation as a Mediator - Renewal Application
This membership category is for individuals renewing their AMDRAS Mediator Accreditation. From 1st July 2025, all renewals will be processed under the AMDRAS standards.
Note: You can apply for ADVANCED Mediator accreditation using the renewal form. You will need to meet the practice hours, years of accreditation and the Practicum Certificate requirements.
Practitioner Membership is now available on a 1 year subscription - $190
If you do not require NMAS/AMDRAS accreditation through Mediation Institute, please select this membership.
This membership is suitable for Certified Family Group Conference Facilitators, those qualified to apply for registration as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, or NMAS/AMDRAS Mediators accredited through a different Recognised Accreditation Provider (RAP) who do not wish to transfer to Mediation Institute.
Please note: If you are qualified as a Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) Practitioner and/or Family Group Conference Facilitator with NMAS accreditation, you need to select Accredited Mediator Membership. This includes Practitioner Membership benefits.

Professional Development Membership is now available on a 1 year subscription - $150
Professional Development Membership is designed for those who do not need all the benefits of Practitioner Membership or are not yet eligible for it. This membership includes free access to our Professional Development Events and resources.
Please note that Professional Development Membership does not include Independent Complaint Handling or listing in our Directory of Practitioner Members. To be listed in the directory or included in our panels, you will need a Practitioner Membership.
If you are a Mi Student, you automatically have access to the membership platform, allowing you to fully take advantage of our events and resources while you are completing your studies.
