Frequently Asked Questions

What does complaint handling cover?

Mi’s complaint handling process covers complaints about your conduct as a practitioner. As a Practitioner Member, you can tell clients and referrers that you are subject to a professional complaints process administered by Mediation Institute.

Does Practitioner Membership give me AMDRAS accreditation?

No. AMDRAS accreditation through Mi is a separate tier — AMDRAS Accredited Mediator Membership ($480 for two years). Practitioner Membership is suitable if you already hold AMDRAS accreditation through another RAP, or if you don’t require AMDRAS accreditation.

Can I be listed in the Mi Directory even if I’m accredited through another organisation?

Yes. You don’t need to hold AMDRAS accreditation through Mi to be listed in the Mi Mediator Directory. Practitioner Membership includes a directory listing regardless of where your accreditation sits.

What’s the difference between Practitioner Membership and Professional Development Membership?

Professional Development Membership ($150/year) is CPD-only — no complaint handling and no directory listing. Practitioner Membership ($190/year) adds complaint handling and a directory listing. The extra $40 a year covers the complaint handling framework.
