Mi Organised Role Plays

Role Plays are an essential part of skills learning. Mi Organised Role Plays are fully online and provide you with the opportunity to develop your dispute resolution practitioner skills.

Theory is useful but does not provide the applied learning needed to develop skills. Practice and the opportunity to observe, reflect and get feedback are all essential parts of  learning new skills. In the case of mediation skills they are similar but different to the way you apply your interpersonal skills in other occupations and in your personal life.

How we organise your Role Plays

All Mi organised role plays are live mentored. This is to ensure that you have feedback to help correct any issues and re-enforce what you’ve done well.

We use Zoom Video Meeting Technology to facilitate the role plays you will do in your training.

The use of this online platform means that all students can participate no matter where you live, as long as you have access to a computer and the internet.

If you are not sure if your internet quality is sufficient get in touch and we’ll organise a video meeting with you to check.  Contact Us.

When are the role plays run?

NMAS Course

Times vary somewhat depending on the availability of the mentors and any special requests from students but there are opportunities every day except Sunday and at various times including after hours.

Sometimes the opportunities are not taken up but even so there are usually more than thirty role plays that proceed each month.

Students on this course must participate in 9 role plays, a minimum of 3 as the mediator.  They can participate in as many as they want as a participant (a mediation client) or observer.

Students may also be provided the opportunity to step up to additional role plays or mentoring sessions.

Up to two mentoring sessions are included, at no extra cost, in our course.

Assessments for our NMAS Course Students are arranged with the assessor at a mutually convenient time.

FDR Course

The Family Dispute Resolution Course has a larger variety of role play types than our NMAS Course.

Students will be learning how to facilitate pre-mediation for parenting mediation and for property mediation.  Then students are required to practice and then be assessed in parenting mediation and property settlement mediation.

Once you have mastered those skills you can commence your work placement however there are also role plays in shuttle mediation and child inclusive mediation.

Times vary somewhat depending on the availability of the mentors and any special requests from students but there are opportunities every day except Sunday and at various times including after hours.

Sometimes the opportunities are not taken up but even so there are usually more than forty role plays that proceed in May 2022.   Students are always able to book in for individual mentoring sessions when they feel the need.
