Message from our Director - Joanne Law

Conflict Management for OneThis year seems to be going past on hyper speed with us up to June already.  Lots of updates for members and students this month.

  1. The Dispute Resolution Agency Australiasia the DRA has launched, and we are working with agency members to promote their professional practices and bring in more work opportunities. It is only $30 a month for Mediation Institute Members and you can promote your other dispute resolution sector-related roles as lawyers, experts and consultants as well as your mediator work – Find out more.
  2. NMAS Review – The latest update from the Mediator Standards Board was released on the 31st May – You can access all the links from our NMAS Review post which we update every time public information is made available.  The NMAS Review: Progress Updates From The Mediator Standards Board (mediationinstitute.edu.au)
  3. Interact Community Dispute Resolution Service – there is a volunteer team working on establishing this service as a program offered by not-for-profit Interact Support Inc. The goal is to outreach through local government area teams and provide information, workshops and dispute resolution services. It is a co-mediation service and a major goal is to provide experience for new mediators and those seeking the opportunity to maintain currency of their professional skills. Find out more.
  4. Conflict Management for One – the course has now launched and Mi members enjoy a 15% discount off the standard fee for the course and ongoing professional development group reflective practice.  Find out more.
